Monsters Returned to Manchester this Halloween

Filthy Luker and Pedro Estrellas’ inflatable tentacles, the centrepiece of Halloween in the City’s celebrations, dominated Hardman Square from 26 – 31 October. Accompanied by pumpkin-lantern adorned trees and beady-eye crows lurking in The Little ‘Lot, a creature was waiting at every turn in Spinningfields this Halloween.

In the lead-up to fright-night, brands joined in the festivities and offered more treats than tricks, with Hey Little Cupcake crafting ghoulishly good cupcakes, 20 Stories’ serving ‘Spirit in the Sky’ cocktails, The Alchemist mixing up molecular magic with their ‘Kinda Bad, Kinda Ouija’ menu, BLVD presenting spine-chilling DJ entertainment alongside blood-red cocktails, and The Ivy Manchester transforming into a gothic lair full of surprises, best enjoyed with a pumpkin spiked latte or toffee apple martini.

Rounding out the week was a Spinningfields Scarecrow competition, for which the entries – Wraith, Creepy Girl, The Count and Security Gourd – were judged by the public via Instagram. 100% of the entry fees were donated to the St. John’s Homelessness Initiative, which strives to contribute towards ending homelessness through awareness raising activities, inclusive employment and fundraising.

Whilst Halloween may be over for another year, watch this space as Spinningfields transforms into a seasonal retreat this winter.
