One of Manchester’s most popular drinking spots, the iconic Oast House, is undergoing a refurbishment and will reopen in May 2018. Originally opened as a ‘pop-up’ pub six years ago, the now permanent fixture will temporarily close from January to allow for redevelopment of the courtyard.
Due to the temporary nature of the buildings creation, owners The New World Trading Company and Allied London have worked hard to secure agreement with Manchester City Council to keep the building, which as the name suggests, was developed in the form of a Kentish Oast House.
The re-development will include the stage being re-positioned to the opposite side of the courtyard, with heated canopies, a raised fire pit, additional customer toilets and two permanent outdoor bars being incorporated in the new design, which will maximise opportunities for al fresco dining, drinking and entertainment.
The Oast House recently featured in the New York Times article ’36 Hours In Manchester’ as a ‘welcome retreat in the Spinningfields commercial district… for Mancunians to mingle over a pint of craft ale from the extensive beer list’.
